Launching new website
Welcome to the new CITS website! It has been a while in coming, but we are thrilled about launching the new site today. Rob Patton, the CITS Program Manager, and Quilted, the design firm we hired to design and build the site, have put in massive amounts of work, and I think it shows!
The site is an inside and out revision of our old site. On the backend—the stuff you can’t see but what drives what you can see—we were running a static html website before today. But, the site you are at now is a drupal-based site. This has given us a lot of flexibility in design, makes it easier to update and manage, and allows us to easily integrate tools you probably care about. For instance, with RSS integration for this blog, our events calendar, courses that are being offered for the Technology and Society emphasis, new uploaded media, and other parts of the site, you can be sure you know what is happening at CITS. Similarly, with iCal integration for our events, you can easily schedule our events into your calendar.
On the frontend—what you probably care about since it is what you see—you will notice the new style of the site, the greatly increased inclusion of photos and videos (so you can see who we are and participate in our events) and multiple ways to find what you want on the site, including the header and footer navigation, navigation by clicking on the tag clouds, and searching the site with the search bar.
There is far more that I could say about the site—and I will over the coming months in this blog—but for now, why don’t you look around and form an opinion for yourself. And, if you find anything that is behaving funny, has typos, or is otherwise in need of attention, use the contact form to let us know about it.
