 <title>The Technology and Society Gateway Seminar</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The T&amp;amp;S Gateway Seminar meets every Tuesday beginning September 30, 2008 in Harold Frank Hall 1132 (formerly Engineering I)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Fall 2008 offering of the Technology &amp;amp; Society Seminar Series (re)addresses the theme of social computing and its impacts on technology and society.  Even in the short two years since the first time this topic was explored, social computing technology and its use in everyday society have greatly expanded.  <title>Internet and Social Movements</title>

Prior 146/294 instances focused on internet and social science research broadly and project design and management. This instance of the course is designed to develop substantive expertise on the literature on social movements and the Internet, along with other new media.  <title>Scientists and the Cold War </title>

A major part of this is an exploration of the involvement of scientists with politics and political and governmental institutions during the Cold War, primarily in the United States. Some of the themes we will address include: the interaction of science, technology, and foreign policy; the production of knowledge during the Cold War; and the evolving institutions of postwar science and technology.&lt;/p&gt;
