Rob Patton
Rob Patton was Program Manager for the Center for Information Technology and Society until June 2008. Rob's research interests include technological socialization, online social network interaction & analysis, and the use of new media tools for collective action. Rob's research examines networked interactivity within online social networking environments.

Prior to moving to Santa Barbara Rob spent several years as an media strategy and production consultant developing Internet outreach and mobilization plans for political candidates and issue-oriented campaigns across the country. Rob has advised candidates running for both federal and state office, including sitting U.S. Senator, Barbara Boxer and his hometown Representative Congressman Adam Schiff. In 2000 Rob served as a member of the Democratic National Convention host committee in Los Angeles.

Rob has a Masters degree in Communication from UC Santa Barbara, his master's thesis was on Facebook and networked interactivity. Currently, Rob lives in Pocatello, Idaho where he is an Adjunct lecturer at Idaho State University in Communication Studies and Political Science and also manages the ongoing task of redeveloping the web presence of the City of Pocatello.
